Fair Trade University title for PUEB

We are proud that our university was awarded the title of Fair Trade University in September.

Our university has joined the group of 300 universities in the world supporting in this way sustainable development. This title reaffirms commitment of our university to popularizing the idea of Fair Trade and proves that we are a university that goes beyond traditional education and that our initiatives have a real impact on the world.

The title is a confirmation of PUEB’s mission to educate future leaders who are capable of making responsible business and consumer decisions. By supporting Fair Trade, we promote solidarity, equality and responsible consumption.
UEP undertakes very concrete actions in favor of Fair Trade, both of an educational nature (lectures, workshops for students, employees, students of Poznań schools, the third age university, etc.), as well as through the implementation of joint projects in cooperation with the business and institutional environment of PUEB.
Fair Trade is a grassroots socio-economic initiative that:

  • contributes to most of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing broad-based assistance to the most vulnerable participants in the international market, mainly from countries of the global South,
  • builds grassroots social responsibility in the countries of the global North, bringing values such as solidarity, responsibility, and altruism to the market, promoting responsible consumption and the launch of grassroots social and market initiatives for sustainable development.

Dr. Magdalena Śliwińska was responsible for the work of the coordinating committee for obtaining this title. We owe the receipt of this title in large part to our students, and more specifically to the Student Scientific Circle of Sustainable Business “Trade Fair”, who not only initiated the process of applying for this title, but also for several years with great commitment took various actions to meet all the required criteria. We are proud that within our walls there are young people studying who are not indifferent to the welfare of others, and who are ready to devote their free time to change the world for the better.
